Hot for 2020 Irish Acts: Yenkee
Check out Yenkee when he plays The Grand Social on Saturday, 15 February.
After receiving a reel-to-reel tape recorder as a gift in 2015, Cork producer Graham Cooney began to write a collection of tunes that would eventually become Yenkee. He blends funk, ’60’s surf-rock and electronica to create lo-fi bedroom-pop reminiscent of early Tame Impala. Released on his own Bride Valley Records label, the Cannibal Tree EP showcases Yenkee’s abilities to brilliant effect.
Yenkee plays Dublin’s Grand Social on Saturday, February 15, with tickets available for €11 here.
Hear: Cannibal Tree is perfect for your chill vibes playlist.
