Cork bedroom pop artist Yenkee has announced his debut album Night Golf, set to release on October 25 via Soft Boy records. Accompanying the announcement is the lead single and video 'Hand Luggage'.
The songwriter says the track was inspired by “moments of clarity when you realise how much you love the fundamentals of life... It’s about missing people when we’d go on holidays when I was younger you’d always hear someone say “can you take me in your suitcase?”
The upcoming album is heavily influenced by Yenkee's love of 80's music, with title being inspired by a 2014 tweet where Yenkee simply posted “#NightGolf.”
Now based in London, he began his career as a songwriter and producer at 15, when he began busking on the streets of Cork.
“Being Irish, you are always brought up around music and song" he says, "It’s so ingrained, you can’t avoid it.”
Yenkee released his first four song EP Cannibal Tree in 2019. The producer has garnered over 5 million Spotify streams and has sold out shows across Ireland, including his Coughlan's gig in his native Cork in December 2022.
