Track of the Day: Greg Tisdall, 'it don't make sense to me'
Listen below to the new, scintillating single from the Dublin-born producer, songwriter and performer.
Greg Tisdall continues to evolve his sound, displaying a new edge with the hazy, acoustic number 'it don’t make sense to me.'
'it don't make sense to me' centers on a lo-fi acoustic guitar recorded in the artist's bedroom. The song opens to a sparkling, lightly-strummed intro that blooms into a shimmering reverb before introducing the Tisdall's bright vocals.
Produced by Tisdall and Daniel O’Brien (The Love Hour, Operator Theater), the offering teems with acoustic indie and shoegaze sensibilities. ‘it don’t make sense to me’ features a wash soundscape of cellos, blown out guitars, tape effects and a propulsive rhythm section.
Lyrically, the song disentangles one’s attempt to “reconcile the insecurities felt in a relationship due to your own shortcomings,” says Tisdall.
The new track represents just one facet of the artist's eclectic musical journey, which spans across genres such as bedroom indie-pop, shoegaze and R&B.
Last summer, he expanded his live performance repertoire, captivating festival audiences at Forbidden Fruit and All Together Now with a full live band. As he gears up for the release of his upcoming EP, nosebleed, Tisdall continues to push boundaries and explore new sonic territories.
