Having a pop
The Revs are currently putting the finishing touches to their debut album, which is due in mid-November
The Revs try to make it two top 20 singles in a row with the release through Treasure Island Discs of ‘Alone With You’.
A three-tracker, it also includes the trio’s eponymous tribute to Ireland’s Mr. Pop, Louis Walsh (pictured left).
A Rory Gallagher-esque blues stomper – they are from Donegal – it features such adoring couplets as: “Oooh I’ve got your number, on your knees Samantha Mumba/Bands like us are dead, we’ll do a dance routine instead/We look so silly, like fucking Milli Vanilli/We’ve got no talent, we’re just miming/Because Louis Walsh said rock ‘n’ roll is dead.”
Meanwhile, The Rev’s cross-channel stock continues to rise with their last 45, ‘Wired To The Moon’, making it on to Jonathan King’s influential Tip Sheet.
“We’re track number two on their current promo CD, which is fantastic,” enthuses Treasure Island head honcho Robert Stephenson. “The amount of interest it’s generated – on both sides of the Atlantic – is incredible.”
Currently putting the finishing touches to their debut album, which is due in mid-November, The Revs play upcoming shows at The Leitrim Bar, Sligo (October 16th); Baby Joe’s, Donegal (18th); Horan’s, Tralee (21st); The Forum, Waterford (26th); The Forum, Waterford (27th @ 1.00pm); Rustic Inn, Longford (28th); Blast, Dublin (29th); Travellers Friend, Castlebar (November 1st); Maynooth College (5th); Garavogue, Sligo (8th); Banjo Sherlock’s, Navan (15th); Cleere’s, Kilkenny (23rd); and The Red Box, Dublin (24th).
