It's carnival time in the City of the Tribes!
The Havana Cultura Festival has just announced details of the carnival activities, which will accompany all that lovely Latino music over the June Bank Holiday Weekend in Galway’s Latin Quarter.
Friday night’s festivities kick off at 6pm with DJ El Ray and continue with a Samba dancer procession up Quay Street, which will be soundtracked by Groovalizacion, Disconauts, Floiran and eclectic five-piece Sabor Cubano.
On top of that, there will be free percussion and dance classes, Cuban cinema screenings at Busker Brown’s, a photography exhibition and – best of all – pop-up Havana Club Mojito Masterclasses where you’ll learn how to assemble that most legendary of Cuban cocktails.
Add in performances from the Cuban All Stars, Cuban Jazz Project, La Tinto Bros and Cuba Libre and it promises to be three-days of the utmost fun and frolics.
