Harlem announce Dublin headliner
Truth be told we're just as excited about catching support band Yeh Deadlies.
Garage rock hardliners Harlem – who are actually from good ole’ Nashville, Tennessee – are Dublin-bound on August 25 for a show in Whelan’s, tickets for which are €14.50.
“The only band we like is Nirvana,” they say. “The only album we like is Nevermind. The only song we like is ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’.”
A great soundbite but we also suspect from listening to tunes like ‘Gay Human Bones’ and, ahem, ‘Psychedelic Tits’ that Michael Coomers and Curtis O’Mara also have the collected works of Dinosaur Jr. and a good few Nuggets compilations in their collections.
Support is provided by Yeh Deadlies, the country ‘n’ folk-inflected Popical Island act who we love just for having a song called ‘Teenage Pricks (Up Yours Forever)’. Scroll down to hear two of their other deliciously understated gems.
