Hannah Waters Is Last Of Berkeley Victims To Return To Ireland
The seventh serious injury victim, of the tragedy that shook the nation earlier this summer, has come home from the United States...
Hannah Waters, the last of the injury victims in the Berkeley tragedy, which shocked the nation during the summer, has returned to Ireland. In what was an horrific accident – later put down to building flaws – five Irish students died in tragic circumstances, following the collapse of the balcony on the fourth floor of an apartment building in the Berkeley area.
Hannah Waters was one of seven students, who were critically injured, when the balcony collapsed, on June 16.
In a tragedy that had a huge emotional impact here in Ireland, five Irish students – Eimear Walsh, Olivia Burke, Niccolai Schuster, Eoghan Culligan and Lorcán Miller – died, along with the cousin of Olivia Burke, Ashley Donohoe, a US citizen from Rohnert Park area.
The students had been attending a 21st birthday for another Irish student, Aoife Beary. She was also badly injured in the tragic accident. A gig was held in Dublin’s Academy Theatre in July, to raise funds to assist the victims in their recovery, which starred Gavin James, Mundy, Jape, The Fontaines and the Dublin Gospel Choir, among many more.
