The Elbow frontman is going solo.
Courting The Squall, the debut solo album from Elbow's Guy Garvey which he's jokingly referred to as "a vanity project", arrives October 30 and Guy is taking the songs on the road. We can look forward to the 'One Day Like This' singer's Irish debut solo performance a few weeks before Christmas.
He plays The Olympia Theatre, Dublin, on December 7. Tickets are priced from €39.05 and go on sale from usual outlets this Friday.
For Courting The Squall, Garvey assembled some of his favourite non-Elbow musicians.
Pete Jobson, long time friend and bass player from I Am Kloot, was duly appointed lead guitarist. Nathan Sudders from The Whip came in on bass, bringing a dance sensibility that was at the heart of Guy’s thinking for certain songs. Keyboards were marshalled by former V2 labelmate Ben Christophers, drums were filled by Alex Reeves and elbow’s brass section were added to selected tracks whilst Rachael Gladwin, a steadying contrast to the party vibe of the team due her being pregnant, played the harp.
