Glen Hansard announces retrospective album Don+t Settle - Transmissions East
A second volume, entitled Don+t Settle - Transmissions West, will release later this year.
Glen Hansard has announced his two-volume retrospective album Don+t Settle - Transmissions East & West. The first installment, Transmissions East (Vol. 1), will release Friday, April 24 via Plateau/Secretly Distribution.
Transmissions East will feature 10 tracks, all recorded live at the historic Funkhaus studio in Berlin. Each track is a re-recording of a previous fan-favourite song of Hansard's.
The album was recorded over two nights in April 2025 on Glen's 55th birthday.
Single 'Didn't He Ramble (Funkhaus Version)' is out now. The track originally appeared on Hansard's 2016 EP A Season On The Line.
“Our local bar was The Ramble Inn," wrote Hansard of the song's inspiration. "My father spent most of his waking and sometimes sleeping hours in there…he’d ramble in and stumble out. I wrote this song after he passed at the fair young age of 62. The kind of tribute song he would have approved of."
Don+t Settle - Transmissions West (Vol. 2) will release later this year.
Both volumes will also feature reinterpretations of Hansard's work as the frontman of The Frames and as one half of The Swell Season with Markéta Irglová.
Hansard and The Frames performed at Hot Press's History In The Making - The Concert earlier this month.
In 2008, Hansard and Irglová won the Oscar for Best Original Song with 'Falling Slowly' from the musical film Once. The two starred in the film, directed by John Carney. The film was adapted into a Broadway musical that received eight Tony Awards, including Best New Musical.
Last year, Hansard and Irglová reformed The Swell Season to release their first album in 16 years. Revisit Stuart Clark's 2025 interview of The Swell Season here.
Hansard will embark on a European and UK tour this spring and summer. He'll play Trinity College in Dublin on July 2, 2026. Tickets are available now.
