George Michael’s The Faith Tour concert film and live album announced

George Michael: The Faith Tour, a restored and remastered concert film and live album made out of long lost footage, is set to hit the silver screen later this year, according to Deadline.

It will be accompanied by the release of an 18-track album of previously unheard performances from Michael, which will be put out globally via Sony Music,

The feature film includes footage shot at famous Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy during the European leg of the pop icon’s Faith Tour in 1988. It was directed by longtime collaborators Andy Morahan and David Austin, and was assembled from a 14-camera shoot captured on 35mm film across two nights.

It showcases Michael’s live performance following the release of his 1987 album Faith, widely considered to be one of the most iconic eras from the star, and comes in partnership with Mercury Studios and Sony Music Entertainment.

In theatres, the feature film is set to open with a short film from Mary McCartney, featuring previously unheard interview audio from Michael and unseen photographs by fashion photographer Herb Ritts.

Written, produced and largely performed by Michael, Faith received the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and produced four No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including ‘Faith’, ‘Father Figure’, ‘One More Try’ and ‘Monkey’. Michael remains the only British male solo artist to achieve four Hot 100 chart-toppers from a single album.

The singer passed away in 2016 at age 53, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023.
