Amyl and the Sniffers announce country concert film Truth or Consequence with live album

Amyl and The Sniffers have announced a new country concert film, Truth or Consequence, accompanied by a live album of the same name.

The film will hit the big screen on August 28, before the album is released on September 4.

In April last year, the Melbourne band joined friends in LA's El Coyote Mexican restaurant, notoriously known as the place where Sharon Tate ate her last meal on August 8, 1969, hours before being killed by the Manson family, and which featured in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood. 

Songs were reimagined as stripped-back country versions, which resulted in the new film and album. Along with fan favourites, it will feature two unreleased songs and a cover of Slim Dusty's 'Lights on the Hill'. An official tracklist is yet to be revealed.

"The hope for this record is that it is listened to as it was made, in a ruckus exclamation between a cherished group of friends," said the band in a statement.

Directed by John Angus Stewart, known for A Smile in the Back of My Head (2016) and Gone West (2014), the concert film will be shown at some limited theatrical screenings in Ireland, the UK, Europe and Australia at the end of this month.
