Foy Vance works with Mule Variations man Jacquire King on new album
Elton John executive produces, and Ed Sheeran is his record company boss!
Foy Vance has announced details of The Wild Swan, his first album since being signed by Ed Sheeran to his Gingerbread Man label, which has already enjoyed chart success with Jamie Lawson.
The collection was recorded in Nashville with Grammy Award-winner Jacquire King and is executive produced by Elton John.
"I feel so privileged to be a part of this remarkable artist's first album on Gingerbread,” enthuses Elton. “He is an extraordinary writer and singer."
Adds Ed: “I’ve been such a huge fan since the first time I saw him live. I’m constantly blown away with how talented he is. The Wild Swan is an amazing album and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”
The lead track, 'She Burns', justifies both of the star men's enthusiasm for the Bangor, County Down troubadour.
When, “Ed said, ‘go and make the record you want to make,’” Vance took him at his word and contacted Jacquire King who was responsible for Tom Waits' Mule Variations.
“Mule Variations is not only an exquisitely-written record but a wonderful sounding record,” Vance expands. “I actually flew out to meet Jacquire in person before agreeing to work with him because I wanted to look in the whites of his eyes and make sure we’d be on the same page. I didn’t want something too clean and polished and commercial.”
