Fontaines D.C. announce details for Slane Castle 2027

A slide at the end of the band’s set at Electric Picnic confirmed a gig at the legendary festival venue next summer – and this morning the Dublin band have revealed all the details...

Fontaines D.C. are set to play Slane Castle, Co. Meath on Saturday, June 26, 2027.

In what amounts to the most exciting news fans of Irish rock are likely to hear all year, the Dublin band will climb what is often considered Ireland’s rock pinnacle, with a gig in the famous Slane redoubt that has seen concerts by U2, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Queen, Guns N’ Roses, Neil Young – and a host of other major artists, since the first show there with Thin Lizzy as headliners, in 1981.

Fontaines will be the third ever Irish act to headline Slane, following in the footsteps of U2 and Thin Lizzy.

"It's a gig that had to happen," Hot Press editor Niall Stokes said. "It makes so much sense. Fontaines D.C. have redefined Irish and international rock music over the past decade. They really are a very special group, who are at once really solidly rooted, yet wonderfully unpredctable – but who also have a perspective on the world that makes real sense and beeds to he heard.

"For me, they are what would have to be considered a classic Slane act. I'm sure Alex Conyngham, and everyone in Slane is thrilled that they have been confirmed. It promises to be a marvellous occasion, one that everyone who loves Irish music will be looking forward to with great relish."

Fontaines D.C. will be joined at Slane Castle by special guests Hayley Williams, Damien Dempsey and Madra Salach – with more to be announced.

The news follows the recent announcement of Fontaines' fifth studio album, Dopamine Chamber, set to be released on October 16 via XL Recordings.

Tickets go on general sale at 10am this Thursday, September 3, via Ticketmaster.

Artist pre-sale begins at 10am on Tuesday, September 1, while MCD pre-sale begins at 10am on Wednesday, September 2.

Tickets will be priced from €89.25 (including booking fee and €1 charity donation to Focus Ireland).

€1 from every ticket sold (minus applicable taxes) will go towards helping children, families and individuals get back on their feet and have a home of their own.
