Focus group launch debut single
Self-styled Slaneyside gunslingers, and hot favourites of Jinx Lennon, The Focus Group launch their much anticipated debut single ‘Bits & Bobs’ next Thursday.
Their prodigious live shows have won them many admirers, including the Dundalk punk-poet Lennon, whom The Focus Group have opened for on numerous occasions, most recently in Galway’s Roisin Dubh.
Described by Forkhill chanteuse Miss Paula Flynn as 'my new favourite Irish band' the trio have built solidly on the foundations laid when garnering the First Cuts: Pick of the Fortnight accolade from Jackie Hayden in Hot Press last October. He praised them for their “art swagger, quirky attitude and damn fine music”.
As a taster for their imminent album, ‘Bits & Bobs’ is a song of defiance for these despondent times. Frontman and group factotum Steven O’Brien explains that: “Ultimately the song’s message is that there’s no job too big or insignificant, that the important thing is the honesty of effort the individual brings to everything they do”.
Check out the single launch at The Bailey in Enniscorthy on Thursday April 23.
