First 'socially distant concert' in Arkansas to be sent cease-and-desist notice
Travis McCready of Bishop Gunn is on the bill.
Last week, the state governor of Arkansas Asa Hutchinson released a statement saying that a concert by Bishop Gunn frontman Travis McCready would be defying health regulations.
The venue, TempleLive, announced that social distancing measures would be implemented for the show (which was scheduled to take place on May 15th), including only admitting 20 per cent of the 1,100-person capacity to the venue, and having people sit in "fan pods" that were six feet apart.
Pitchfork has reported that the concert will be issued a cease-and-desist letter by the states' Department of Health.
In a statement given on May 11th, Hutchinson said: “That concert does not have our approval. It would happen three days before the authorised date, as well as a few other problems."
Mike Brown, a representative for the venue, responded by saying: “It’s really disappointing. I was a little bit blindsided, and to hear that at the press conference was a little disconcerting. We’ve pulled it back at 20 percent capacity and it’s still not good enough".
