Over the weekend, multiple stars like Finneas, Florence Pugh and Eva Longoria publicly criticized ICE detention policies in L.A.
Celebrities including Finneas, Eva Longoria, Florence Pugh and Chrissy Teigen have publicly voiced their concern about Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) raids in Los Angeles.
This past weekend, tensions in Southern California have been running high due to aggressive ICE raids and President Donald Trump's order to deploy 2,000 of California's National Guard troops.
Along with human rights advocates, politicians and local citizens, several superstars have also spoken out against these actions and expressed their solidarity for those affected by immigration enforcement.
Songwriter and singer Finneas, brother of Billie Eilish, shared on his Instagram that he was tear-gassed at a protest in downtown L.A. yesterday, June 8. "Fuck ICE. Tear gassed almost immediately at the very peaceful protest downtown – they're inciting this," read his story.

This protest was not the only one taking place across L.A., in direct response to the immigration raids.
Actress Florence Pugh reshared a post on her Instagram by podcast host Brian Allen which read, "In case you were wondering what sparked the LA standoff between protesters and federal agents, this is it. Immigrants showed up for routine ICE check-ins and were detained on the spot. No warning. No due process. Just snatched."
Green Day's lead vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong also posted a video of protesters clashing with law enforcement. The clip shows a burning car with the Green Day song Fuck Off as a background track. Armstrong captioned his contribution to the debate with a middle finger and ice cube emoji.

Similarly, singer Gracie Abrams and model Chrissy Teigen reshared posts by other creators on their Instagram to express their resentment of Trump's orders and military reactions to the protests.
Not only did the ICE raids and deployment of the National Guard spark outrage amongst citizens and celebrities, but there have also been strong political responses.
On Monday, the Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, called the deployment "an unconstitutional act" and said there was no need for the National Guard to be involved.
Several other California officials supported Newsom in a joint statement, calling the deployment of California's National Guard "an alarming abuse of power".
