Ex-Employee Files Lawsuit Against Spotify
A former Spotify employee, Hong Perez, has accused the music giant of discriminating against females in relation to pay and the issues
Hong Perez is suing her former employer, Spotify, for discrimination against female workers. The former sales executive alleges that her boss organised 'Boys Trips' to The Sundance Film Festival and excluded any female workers from going. She claimed that on these trips, some employees also engaged in Drug use, and that none of them were ever disciplined.
She also alleges that women in the company were paid less than their male counterparts, and that another male executive was promoted despite receiving sexual harassment warnings. Perez ended up leaving the company after, she claims, her boss Brian Berner got in hot water over receiving free tickets to Madison Square Garden, which he then blamed on her. She was fired and a company email was sent around explaining that she had "violated their code of conduct".
Spotify have released a statement that they do not tolerate discrimination of any kind at the company, and says Perez's claims are without merit.
