Eoghan McDermott to host 2fm weekend breakfast show + Electric Picnic new band search

A former staffer at London alternative station Xfm, Eoghan - who just happens to be the brother of our Ro McDermott - enthuses: “I had an amazing two years on UK radio finding and backing new music, where we picked up a nomination for best new UK radio show for our troubles - now it's time to champion some of the great Irish talent on the legendary 2fm. A massive station where some of the greats have resided and right now a bit of an underdog. Exciting times.”
As part of the national broadcaster’s summer schedule, DriveBy with Colm Hayes will be running a series of Festival Fridays specials which tie in with their presence at Sea Sessions, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, Vodafone Comedy Festival, Castlepalooza and Electric Picnic.
In addition to this will be 2fm’s Play The Picnic With Oxfam, a nationwide search to find 10 up and coming Irish acts who’ll be added to the Stradbally bill.
