Sheeran told fans after finishing the Divide tour in 2019 on Instagram, "I’ve been a bit non stop since 2017 so I’m just gonna take a breather to travel, write, and read. I’ll be off social media until it’s time to come back."

"I always aim to push myself and my music in new directions and hopefully you'll hear that on the new single. Feels great to be back!"
The Suffolk native will perform 'Bad Habits' for the first time from Ipswich Town's Portman Road on June 25 for TikTok's Uefa EURO 2020 show.
