Eamon Gilmore resigns as Labour Leader
Following on his party's poor performance in the Local, European and Bye Elections, Labour leader Eamon Gilmore has resigned his position.
Having lead Labour to their greatest ever result in the Dáil in the 2011 general election, Gilmore has taken what was no doubt a painful decision to relinquish the leadership to allow the party to enter a period of renewal under a new stewardship.
Eamon Gilmore conducted two extensive and wide-ranging interviews with Hot Press
The first in 1995, as a then Junior Minister for Democratic Left where topics ranged from multi-demoninational schooling, a woman's right to choose, how his ultimate goal was to get out of politics and whether or not he ever visited a brothel.
The second as newly elected leader of the Labour Party in 2007 where he discussed Bertie, the possibility (or not) of doing business with Sinn Féin, same sex marriages and continued his affirmations in the previous interview of his own personal drug use as well as his definitive belief that the state should stay out of people's bedrooms.
