Dua Saleh announces new album Of Earth and Wires
The indie RnB artist collaborated with Bon Iver and Billy Lemos to create their sophomore LP.
Dua Saleh has announced their new album Of Earth and Wires, out May 15 via Ghostly International.
The album follows up Saleh's 2024 debut album I SHOULD CALL THEM. Previously, they released a trio of EPs and appeared on Netflix's hit comedy Sex Education.
Of Earth and Wires is executive-produced by Billy Lemos (SZA, Tinashe).
Along with the album announcement, the Sudan-born, Minnesota-raised RnB artist has released two singles, 'Flood' and 'Glow'. Both tracks feature vocals from Bon Iver.
The electronic-tinged 'Flood' meditates on climate change, inspired by flooding Saleh witnessed in Cardiff while filming Sex Education. Listen below.
Single 'Glow', co-produced by Simon Christensen (FKA Twigs, Santigold), combines light strings with heavy bass and warped reverb to create a velvet-smooth sound.
To create the album, Saleh collaborated heavily with Bon Iver, whose vocals are featured on three tracks. Poet aja monet and fellow Sudanese singer Gaidaa also appear on the album.
"While pondering the demise of Earth, I reflected on the ways that people would operate if modern society completely collapsed," Saleh wrote of their inspiration for the album. "As a Sudanese-American, I often feel as though my world has already begun collapsing as a result of the ongoing conflict in the region... If my world were to disappear, I would bring it back to life with aspects of home. For me, this means bringing in elements of sound that feel like home."
