Discovery Channel locked in dispute with Sky and NOW TV in Ireland & the UK
The Discovery Channel is urging fans to tweet @SkyHelpTeam in order to stop them being dropped from the Sky and NOW TV platforms in Ireland & the UK.
The standoff appears to be of a financial nature with Discovery saying: “We believe it’s wrong for Sky to charge you more and offer you less. Make your voices heard!”
They’ve also taken a gentle pop by posting a shot of Gold Rush stars Todd Hoffman and Parker Schnabel with a “If they played football maybe Sky would love them like you do” strapline.
Discovery aren't adverse to footie themselves, with one of their channels, Eurosport, having the rights here to the African Cup of Nations, which have just reached the knockout stages. If the plug's pulled next Tuesday, people following the tournament - among them HP's Paul Nolan! - will have to go elsewhere to see how DR Congo, Senegal, Cameroon et al get on in the quarter-finals.
Discovery had earlier messaged: “We are committed to finding a solution with Sky to keep bringing you the channels and show the love.”
