'Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead' heading for UK No. 1
Margaret Thatcher's death has led to a surge of downloads of the Wizard Of Oz classic...
It's no surprise that former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's death had led to a massive divide in public UK opinion. However, few would have forseen that Wizard Of Oz track 'Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead,' would hurtle towards the No. 1 spot in the wake of the Iron Lady's death.
Paddy Power have significantly cut the odds of the song hitting the UK top spot, from 10-1 to 6-1. This follows the song's remarkable climb on the iTunes charts in the last two days, to the No. 2 spot. Alternative performances of the song by Ella Fitzgerald and the Munchkins of the Wizard Of Oz cast have also made their return into the Top 200.
Thatcher's death has drawn polarising reaction from across the globe, including responses from the likes of Morrissey and Billy Bragg.
Keep an eye on hotpress.com for updates on the song's progression.
