David Keenan announces Irish tour dates
The Dundalk native is set to play various dates across the country, including Dingle, Ballina, Wicklow and Kilkenny.
David Keenan has announced he will play various dates across Ireland this October as part of the Chasing Myth tour.
The 11-date series will see him take venues in all four provinces, including stops in Dingle, Ballina and Kilkenny.
The Dundalk singer-songwriter has said the tour is aimed at celebrating smaller venues and the stories they hold.
“They say the Irish pub is dying and that magic doesn’t exist in venues anymore? I’m setting out to prove this wrong,” he wrote on Instagram.
“It’s not about the size of the room, it’s about the people, the place and the music.”
The tour opens at Brees Strandhill, Sligo on October 2 and will also visit:
Nacional de Cuba, Derry – October 4
Mike the Pies, Listowel – October 9
De Barra’s, Clonakilty – October 10
Dick Mack’s, Dingle – October 12
Poppy Lane Sessions, Kinvara – October 16
The Village Inn, Bohola – October 17
The NCF Cultural Co-Op, Ballina – October 18
Courthouse Arts Centre, Wicklow – October 24
The Sky and The Ground, Wexford – October 26
Rothe House & Garden, Kilkenny – October 30
Last month marked Keenan’s debut as a film composer with the soundtrack for Salvable, following the release of his documentary Focla ar Chanbhás (Words on Canvas).
Keenan’s first album, A Beginner’s Guide to Bravery, topped the Irish indie charts in 2020, and he is preparing to release his fourth studio album later this year, with singles ‘Amelioration’ and ‘50 Quid Man’ out now.
Tickets for the Chasing Myth tour go on sale on Friday, August 22, via davidkeenan.com.
Keenan will also appear at the Croí stage at Electric Picnic, Stradbally on Saturday August 30.
