Dark Tropics announce debut Irish tour
Tickets for the tour are free, due to the support fund from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
Belfast-based Dark Tropics have announced their debut Irish tour, stopping at Cork's Coughlan's on May 28, Galway's Róisín Dubh on June 4, and Dublin's Whelan's on June 12.
The pop-noir duo were awarded the British Phonographic Industry's Music Export Growth Scheme (MEGS) fund for their tour. It's a UK government-supported fund, designed to help independent music artists and labels fund international touring and marketing.
Due to the rules of the program, tickets for all tour dates are free of charge.
Made up of singer Rio McGuinness as well as guitarist and producer Gerard Sands, the duo first came to prominence in 2020, with the release of their debut single 'Badlands.' Followed by several other successful releases like 'Moroccan Sun,' and 'Keep Searching,' they shared their first album Ink in 2021.
They supported Belle and Sebastian on their Irish tour in November 2023. They've also gathered support from Hot Press in the past years, earning them a spot in several of our New Irish Songs To Hear This Week round-ups, and more.
On May 13, the duo are set to release their new single 'It All Leads Back To You' about Rio's real-life experience of "a doomed wedding engagement," they said.
You can find the free tickets for their upcoming tour here.
