Stephen’s Green will be a hive of activity on March 8
Concern Worldwide will mark 100 Years of International Women's Day on March 8 by celebrating women and raising awareness of its work empowering women in the world's poorest countries.
The Stephen's Green Centre, Dublin, will host a range of events and promotions, spot prizes and discounts and other initiatives to be announced, along with key media partners, including Hot Press. Stephen’s Green and the surrounding areas will be abuzz with female positivity!
The event coincides with the run of the Philip Lynott Exhibition at the Centre, which opens on March 4.
"We are also publishing a remarkable new edition of My Boy," says Hot Press editor Niall Stokes. "In it, Philomena Lynott tells the full story for the first time about the sister and brother that Philip never knew. It is a heart-breaking tale that underlines just how tough things were for women in the not too distant past. But it is also a wonderfully inspiring story, that will resonate for every woman who has ever dreamed of having a child."
Meanwhile, in Limerick, the superb Women of Concern Photographic Exhibition will celebrate International Women's Day day with an exhibition by three of Ireland’s leading female photographers – Brenda Fitzsimons (the Irish Times), Kim Haughton and Marie McCallan (Press 22) who will be presenting images from three countries where Concern Worldwide supports women’s development projects.

Their photographs give an insight into the lives of women in these three countries, and how Concern is helping them to improve their lives and communities. The resulting images tell powerful stories of hope, determination and survival, from post-earthquake Haiti, Ethiopia and Bangladesh.
This exhibition will run from International Women's Day until the end of March at The Hunt Museum, Rutland Street, Limerick.
The Women of Concern photo exhibition will also be displayed at the University of Ulster in Belfast from March 8 for two weeks.
