Clash symposium to take place in Belfast
The University of Ulster’s Belfast Campus is the venue on June 20 & 21 for A Riot Of Our Own: A Symposium On The Clash.
The title of the get together refers to the gig Joe and the chaps almost played in October 1977 in the Ulster Hall, but was pulled at the minute causing skirmishes outside between punks and the RUC.
Keynote speakers include writer and for a period Clash manager Caroline Coon, Professor David Hesmondhalgh from the University of Leeds, Joe Strummer biographer Chris Salewicz and Adrian Boot who took the iconic shots of the band in Belfast.
Rounding the weekend off will be a fundraising gig for Strummerville at the Oh Yeah Centre headlined by local punk heroes Ruefrex.
