The transgender icon Chelsea Manning has posted on Twitter that she's alright following her attempted suicide last week.

"I am okay, Chelsea tweeted. "I'm glad to be alive. Thank you all for your love <3 I will get through this. #standwithchelsea"

The 28-year-old was sentenced to 35 years in prison after leaking classified files to WikiLeaks. Manning is currently serving time at the military prison Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
