Charli XCX teases new mockumentary The Moment
The mockumentary will also feature Rachel Sennott, Alexander Skarsgård, Kate Berlant and Kylie Jenner.
A24 has released the first teaser for The Moment, a new mockumentary in which Charli XCX plays a “hell-version” of herself.
Described by the Grammy winner as “the realest depiction of the music industry that I’ve ever seen," the project is fictional but draws heavily from the pressures she experienced during the promotion of her 2024 album Brat.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, she explained that the idea stemmed from “being pressured to make” a tour documentary, something she wanted to subvert: “It’s not a tour documentary or a concert film in any way, but the seed of the idea was conceived from this idea of being pressured to make one.”
The first teaser, released today, blends real footage from her Sweat tour and press cycle with staged behind-the-scenes segments. The film is directed and co-written by longtime collaborator Aidan Zamiri.
The Moment also features Rachel Sennott, Alexander Skarsgård, Kate Berlant and Kylie Jenner.
Charli will also contribute new music to Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights, due in February, and is providing music for Mother Mary, the upcoming Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel–led drama.
The Moment will be released on January 30, 2026.
