Bren Berry & The Beautiful Losers announce Whelan's show
Tickets are available now.
Bren Berry and The Beautiful Losers have announced a show at Whelan's, Dublin, on March 27.
They are returning to the venue after their show on January 16, which was Berry's first time playing in Whelan's in 28 years.
The seven-piece band includes guitarists Brendan and Ciaran Tallon from the alt-rock Revelino, keyboardist Cormac Curran, bassist Gavin Fox, drummer Gary Sullivan and background vocalist Yvonne Tiernan.
"I'm so grateful to be making music again with such an incredible band," said Berry. "We had an amazing time performing live together last month and we're very excited now to return to our old stomping ground Whelan's - it's really such a great venue!"
Described as a "love letter to life, friends and music", Berry's debut solo album, In Hope Our Stars Align, was rated an 8/10 by Hot Press. The LP's title was taken from his new single ‘Fire Drill’, which was inspired by Seamus Heaney's The Cure At Troy.
"I view the album as a collection of love letters and protest songs which are layered with an intentional sense of hope and positivity," said Berry. " I think ‘Fire Drill’ is one of my strongest songs lyrically and live and I wrote it around the time of the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday.
"Thich Nhat Hanh's book You Are Here was sitting on my desk when I heard of his death just before the anniversary and it became a key to the sense of hope in the song and the album. His activism and his life as an exile is so relevant at a time when so many people are being forced to live in exile all over the world."
Tickets are available here.
