Breaking news
JJ72 WERE FORCED to postpone three shows last week after drummer Fergal Matthews fell off his new 400cc motorbike in Dublin and broke a hand.
It’s not the first time Matthews has come a cropper, with a replacement tubthumper having to be drafted in at the start of the year when he twisted an ankle leaving the stage in Derby.
The trio will now play Nottingham Rock City on June 17th and London’s Shepherds Bush Empire on the 18th and 19th.
Meanwhile, Mark Greaney has been talking about some of the songs that are likely to make it on to their next album.
“‘City’ is a lot more blatant and obvious – and a little more honest – than other lyrics I’ve written,” he reflects. “There’s a slight realisation of where I’m from, but the song is not so much about Dublin. It’s tied to your childhood, stuff you cannot detach yourself from. Over the past year, I’ve realised what’s important to me. The more I see of the world, the more romantic familiar things seem to me. I’m in a wonderful relationship, it’s important.
“There’s also a track called ‘The Alabaster Ocean’. I’m even more into the elements than on the first album. We’re working on ‘Formulae’ which we already play live.”
