Bono pays tribute to Dolly Parton with special sketch

As fans and fellow musicians continue to pay tribute to Dolly Parton – following the sad news of her death, aged 80 – U2 have shared a post of their own, featuring a special sketch by Bono.

The singer's portrait of Dolly – which incorporates the American flag – features the year of her birth ('46) and her death ('26), followed by an infinity symbol.

The tribute, captioned "Every heart is torn" also features handwritten text:

"Brothers turn to strangers
And can't feel each other's pain
Sons deny their name...
Somebody loses either way
Every heart is torn..."

Back in January, Bono sent a bagpiper – Nashville-based Irish musician Patrick D'Arcy – to Dolly Parton's home, to serenade her on her 80th birthday. He also sent a cake, with 'Love... Bono' written in icing.

"Now that's what you call a surprise!" the singer wrote on social media in response. "This old bag sure feels the love!"
