Musart issuing call for musicians interested in selling their artwork
Are you a musician that paints, sketches, or makes ceramics?
Musart, a new art gallery set to open soon in Dublin, is inviting musicians who create visual art to sell their works.
Run by Josephine Mew, the concept for an art gallery exclusively for musicians stems back to her time working at City Arts Centre Art Gallery, Dublin, twenty five years ago.
"During my two years there, Jamie Reid of the Sex Pistols came over to exhibit his art works, which were a collection of drawings paintings and batiks," explains Mew. "During that period I became aware that a lot of musicians paint and that there is no specific outlet for their art works.
"The idea came to me to open an Art Gallery exclusively for musicians. However, life took over and I became carer to my late husband and then became carer to my late Dad. After that I did a full time course at BCFE in Irish trad and performance. While at BCFE I met several musicians who paint and create artworks which revoked my Musart idea.
"I'm currently looking for a suitable premises and hope to open for Easter 2026. I envisage Musart as a commercial gallery to showcase professional and non professional musicians art works and sell them to the public. I believe my idea for Musart is original and that there's an opening in the market for it."
Musicians looking to sell their artwork, or for more information, can contact Josephine Mew at [email protected].
