Brand New Dr. Dre single
'Kush' will be the first single from his long-awaited Detox album
11 years since Dr. Dre's last album, 2001, was released, finally the superproducer has seen fit to unveil the first single from its follow-up online. There is no official release date as yet.
Teaming up with Akon and long-time collaborator Snoop Dogg, the song 'Kush' was apparently inspired, somewhat inevitable, by smoking dope.
"It's about smoking weed" Dre confirmed. "But I don't want people to think that is what my album is about. This is the only song with that kind of content. It's not a representation of what the album is."
Another song, 'I Need A Doctor', featuring Eminem quite prominently, has leaked online.
Dre also says that Detox, a record he has been working on since 2003, is near completion, with the mixing process due to start in the next month. So it looks like it might not be all that long until rap's Chinese Democracy sees the light of day.
Check out 'Kush' while you wait.
