Beck Project Song Reader to feature all-star cast
Non-musicians rejoice! Finally, they're playing Song Reader so you don't have to...
18 months after the release of the sheet music book, Mr. Hansen decides it's time to commit his work to recordings.
Of course, fans of the man have produced their own interpretations of the compositions within Song Reader and posted to YouTube and SoundCloud. Now, though, it's a staggering collection of fellow musicians that will assume responsibility.
Rockers Jack White, David Johansen of the New York Dolls, and Jarvis Cocker will be involved, but so will the likes of Norah Jones, Laura Marling and soul great Swamp Dogg.
Beck himself only plays one of the 20 songs, happy to leave the rest to his all-star cast, which also includes Loudon Wainwright III, Jeff Tweedy, and fun.
Eclectic, then, to say the least.
The album is out on July 29th; just a few short weeks before Beck hits Electric Picnic.
