Beastie Boys promised MCA that they would not make more music
The admission was made during an court case between the group and Monster energy drink.
Mike D, real name Michael Diamond, of the Beastie Boys has revealed that they had promised the late MCA that they would no longer make new music after his death.
The band is currently taking Monster Energy Drink to court for using the band's music in a "Beastie Boys Megamix" and are seeking $1 million for implied damages and another $1 million for their implied endorsement of the product.
“We have not been able to tour since MCA, Adam Yauch, died,” Diamond said, as reported by the New York Daily News.
