BABYRAT look ahead to Electric Picnic: "This year has been our favourite line-up ever"
As part of our special Festival Voices series, Cork band BABYRAT share their EP reflections...
"What makes Electric Picnic special is the atmosphere – it’s so inviting. Everything’s so community-oriented, which is so nice. Set aside the amazing acts that are playing and the overall feeling that’s created where people are brought together is so sweet.
"Last year we saw Madra Salach. We were running around trying to find the stage for so long. We finally walked through what looked like an abandoned train and saw them from the back of the room, that was an amazing set. In 2023, The Love Buzz, a Cork band, were playing and we were running around trying to find them. We’re always running to find people!
"Our set is going to be lots, and lots, and lots of fun. Lots of energy, lots of singing along to 2000s pop rock. If you’re a fan of OG Katy Perry, this is the set to go to.
"We admire each other so much as musicians. We spend so much time together, and we travel together, and we’re so lucky that we get to have these moments with each other where we almost feel like siblings. It’s heartwarming.
"This year has been our favourite line-up ever. We’re really excited to see some of our friends that are playing: Madra Salach, Florence Road… and all the headline acts are just class. We can’t wait to see CMAT take the main stage by storm. It’s an all-weekender, there’s something for everyone. Role Model for the country fans, Fontaines D.C. for the alt. people, and then there’s Zara Larsson, who’s pure pop. All the Irish acts conquering the stages are something we’re so proud to see happen. The spotlight’s on national talent."
BABYRAT play the Salty Dog and Fish Town at Electric Picnic 2026 (August 28-30).
