April releases new EP An Axe To Grind
The record is out now via FADER Label.
April Lawlor, known mononymously as April, has shared her fourth studio EP, An Axe To Grind, via the FADER Label.
The EP was co-produced with fellow musicians Kim Tee and koby, and is described as a “collaborative community effort” and “a welcome form of whiplash.”
Speaking of the record’s title track, April explains: “I wrote ‘Axe To Grind’ when I spent a year alone after a relationship ended. I was at my wits end of feeling loneliness and I was craving connection, passion and romantic human experiences.
“It was both a sad and very freeing time,” she continues. “I became closer to myself than ever before. It took isolating off a lot of parts of myself to shed the ones I no longer wanted in my life and to sharpen the parts of myself that I love.”
Celebrating the release of the EP, April will be playing a set at the Irish Music Week Festival in Dublin, October 1-3, although the exact date is yet to be announced.
From Kildare, Ireland, April started by self-producing tracks on GarageBand and posting them to SoundCloud just for fun. She was quickly introduced to the music industry, having since toured Europe supporting artists such as Alec Benjamin, Matilda Mann and Claud.
