14 year-old composes song to benefit homeless
All proceeds from the sale of 'Connemara's Dreams' will go to South East Simon Community.
Waterford wunderkind Jack Hanafin, a second-year student with a big heart, is once again using his talents for a good cause. 'Connemara's Dreams', a tune inspired by Hanafin's visit to the west of Ireland this summer, is on sale now for only €1.50, with every cent going toward homeless advocates South East Simon Community. Last Christmas, Hanafin donated nearly €130 to the organisation by selling his song 'Bangflash' to students and staff at school.
By the age of 10, Hanafin had already written 73 songs and knew his way around a guitar. He was selected for The Hot Press First Cuts Clinic in 2008, and our own Jackie Hayden noted that Hanafin "understands how a song is put together, avoiding any sense of three-chord trickery."
You can pick up the CD at the South East Simon Shop, located at the Open Door in Michael Street, Waterford. If you can't make it to Waterford, why not listen to 'Connemara's Dreams' below and make a donation to the South East Simon Community by clicking here.
