Watch: Trailer unveiled for upcoming film Hot Milk starring Emma Mackey, Fiona Shaw and Vicky Krieps
The film is set to hit cinemas in the UK and Ireland this summer.
MUBI have released a trailer for the highly-anticipated drama Hot Milk, which stars Emma Mackey, Fiona Shaw and Vicky Krieps.
Helmed by writer Rebecca Lenkiewicz, in her directorial debut, Hot Milk recently received its world premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival.
It will be one of Shaw's first projects following the widespread acclaim of Sharon Horgan's Bad Sisters. Mackey follows up her lauded performance in Barbie, while Krieps continues her stream of diverse projects, including 2022's Corsage and The Dead Don't Hurt in 2023.
Based on Deborah Levy’s novel of the same name, Hot Milk centres on the relationship between Sophia (Mackey) and her ailing mother Rose (Shaw), who travel to the coast of Spain in search of a healer who possibly holds the key to Rose’s mysterious illness.
As tensions simmer between them, Sophia finds herself drawn to the free-spirited Ingrid (Krieps). “But as the sun beats down, Sofia’s growing independence and search for freedom become too much for her controlling mother, forcing her to question the true nature of Rose’s illness," a press statement reads. "Secrets, lies, and revelations emerge, leading Sofia to doors that might be best left unopened."
Hot Milk hits cinemas in the UK and Ireland on 4 July 2025.
