WATCH: Liam Neeson plus other Irish stars in first In the Land of Saints and Sinners trailer
The film receives its premiere at the Venice Film Festival today, September 6.
The first trailer for the Northern Irish film, In the Land of Saints and Sinners, has been released.
The film, starring Liam Neeson, receives its premiere at the Venice Film Festival today, September 6.
Neeson is joined by other Irish stars, Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Jack Gleeson (Game of Thrones), Sarah Greene (Rosie), Ciarán Hinds (Belfast), Colm Meaney (The Snapper), Desmond Eastwood (Normal People), Conor MacNeill (Industry), Séamus O'Hara (An Irish Goodbye), Mark O'Regan (Blood), and South-East Londoner Valentine Olukoga (Unforgotten).
In the Land of Saints and Sinners is "set in a remote Irish village, where a newly retired assassin finds himself drawn into a lethal game of cat and mouse with a trio of vengeful terrorists."
The film is directed by Robert Lorenz, reuniting Neeson with The Marksman director.
Written by Mark McNally, the script came about through Northern Ireland Screen’s New Writer Focus scheme - a script development scheme open to new Northern Ireland writers.
Set and filmed in Donegal, In The Land of Saints and Sinners received development support and funding from Northern Ireland Screen. Belfast’s Geraldine Hughes and Terry Loane of Prodigal Films Limited are producers alongside Facing East’s Markus Barmettler and Philip Lee. Executive producers include Kieran Corrigan, Ehud Bleiberg, Danny Dimbort, Nicholas Bennett, Victor Hadida, Marc Jacobson, Lorenz, Adrian Grabe, Daniel Fluri and Marcel Gloor.
Netflix has acquired the Irish and UK rights to In the Land of Saints and Sinners, however, a release date has yet to be announced.
