Warner Bros share trailer for Wonka starring Timothée Chalamet
Wonka will arrive in Irish cinemas on December 15th.
Warner Bros have released a trailer for the new Wonka film, starring Timothée Chalamet as Roald Dahl’s mystical chocolatier.
Based off one of Dahl’s most iconic characters, Wonka tells the story of how the famous chocolate-maker became the beloved Willy Wonka we know today.
From Paul King, director of the Paddington films, and David Heyman, producer of Harry Potter, comes a vivid big screen spectacle introducing audiences to the never-before seen young and ambitious Willy Wonka.
The screenplay, written by Paul King and Simon Farnaby, is based off an original story written by King and the characters created by Roald Dahl, and was described by the director as a “companion piece” to the 1971 classic starring Gene Wilder.
Starring alongside Chalamet is Calah Lane, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Mathew Baynton, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carter, Natasha Rothwell, Rich Fulcher, Rakhee Thakrar, Tom Davis, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, and Olivia Colman.
Wonka is set to feature song and dance performances, including original songs by The Divine Comedy’s Neil Hannon, as well as spins on classic songs such as 'Pure Imagination'.
Despite the trailer not featuring any of these songs, it does end with a comical cameo of Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa.
Wonka will be released in cinemas across Ireland on December 15th.
