Roseanna Brown stars in Pressure, the epic World War II D-Day movie in cinemas now and smashing it at the box-office
She's also a talented singer who has a banging new tune, 'Awake', out now!
London born but a Derry girl at heart – her Auntie just happens to be 1970 Eurovision Song Contest winner, Dana Rosemary Scallon – Roseanna Brown is starring alonngside Andrew Scott, Brendan Fraser, Damian Lewis and Kerry Condon in Pressure, which revolves around the role meteorologist James Stagg and his fellow weathermen played in the D-Day landings going ahead on June 6, 1944.
“We know what the ending is but it’s still really tense!” she tells Hot Press. “On set, the director Anthony Maras had a clock ticking down to recreate the stress they’d have been under in the D-Day control room. He’d also say ‘action!’ without any warning to make it feel like you were on the frontline. That really translates onto the screen.”
Commenting on the incredible cinematography, Roseanna adds: “When you see the beaches and the warships, it’s real footage they got from the War Museum and seamlessly blended in. It’s insane how good the finished film looks.”
Currently based in Los Angeles, Roseanna has previously appeared in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 – the role required her to undergo battle wand training – and entered the Marvel Universe, playing ‘Fandral’s wench’ in Thor: The Dark World.
She's also enjoyed a parallel music career, first with her sister Alanna and brother Jonathan in The Rua who toured with Westlife and now as a solo artist.
Day 18 of her '21 Songs In 21 Days' challenge found her coming up with 'Awake', a pop/R'n'B banger which has already found favour with the Hot Press New Irish Songs crew.
She's also written tunes for a number of K-Pop artists. All of this – and more – will be explored in our interview with Roseanna in the October issue of Hot Press.
