Andrew Scott and Emily Blunt to star in Claire Keegan adaptation

Netflix's adaptation of Claire Keegan's romance book Walk the Blue Fields, starring Andrew Scott and Emily Blunt has been announced.

Produced by Compelling Pictures, Element Pictures, Fremantle Company, and Blunt's Ledbury Productions, the film is being shot in Ireland. Filming for Walk the Blue Fields, directed by John Crowley, known for productions like We Live in Time and Brooklyn, officially started last Monday, February 23, in Dublin and Wicklow.

The cast also includes Ciarán Hinds and Tom Cullen from Trespasses and House of the Dragon. 

"On her wedding day, a woman’s future is thrown into doubt when she is confronted with a heart-wrenching decision, as a love triangle from her past threatens to be revealed," reads the logline.

Walk the Blue Fields is a collection of short romantic stories, set in rural Ireland. It starts when "a long-haired woman moves into the priest's house and sets fire to his furniture," says the description of the book.

"That Christmas, the electricity goes out. A forester mortgages his land and goes off to a seaside town looking for a wife. He finds a woman eating alone in the hotel. A farmer wakes half-naked and realises the money is almost gone. And in the title story, a priest waits on the altar for a bride and battles, all that wedding day, with his memories of a love affair".
