Dafne Keen and Aidan Gillen set to star in British crime romance film Driver
The film marks the feature debut of award-winning filmmaker Patrick Ireland and is being produced by Playhouse Pictures.
Dafne Keen and Aidan Gillen are set to star in the British crime romance film, Driver.
Written by Patrick Ireland and Jessica Romagnoli, Driver is described as a “gritty British crime romance unfolding in the charged after-hours of London.”
Keen made her debut as a child actress on the series The Refugees (2015). Her breakthrough role came when she played Laura in the X-Men superhero film Logan (2017), which she reprised for the film Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). She also starred as Lyra Belacqua in the television series His Dark Materials (2019–2022) and Jecki Lon in the Star Wars series The Acolyte (2024).
Gillen is known for his roles as Stuart Alan Jones in Queer as Folk (1999–2000), John Boy in Love/Hate (2010–2011), Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish in Game of Thrones (2011–2017) and Aberama Gold in Peaky Blinders (2017–2019).
Driver centres around Trey, a reclusive ex-con living on the city's outskirts as a night driver, who forms a fragile and increasingly intimate bond with Camden (Keen), a sharp and restless young woman working as a call girl.
As their bond grows, the criminal underworld that controls them both, led by Dickenson (Gillian), begins to close in on them.
“Caught between loyalty, fear and the possibility of escape, Trey and Camden are forced to confront how much freedom truly costs in a system designed to keep people exactly where they belong," reads the synopsis for the show.
“It’s a profoundly human story about the courage it takes to reclaim one’s life and how, together, we might be able to confront a society that exploits us all,” said Ireland.
