This Friday’s Late Late Show celebrates Irish music with Tradfest
Several acclaimed singer-songwriters will feature in this week’s show.
This week’s Late Late Show will be in celebration of Irish music with a Tradfest showcase featuring several artists, such as sean-nós singer Seán Keane, Mike Hanrahan, singer-songwriter Aoife Scott, and Wallis Bird.
Among the other artists taking part are acclaimed singer-songwriter Mundy, Cavan singer Sinéad McKenna, Laois folk artist Molly Donnery, and Guadeloupean artist Ines Khai.
Uilleann piper Louise Mulcahy will also be a guest star on Friday’s show. Mulcahy made Fleadh history by winning four senior all-Ireland titles.
Multi-instrumentalist Alan Connor, percussionist Robbie Harris, guest fiddler with The Chieftains Tara Breen, and folk singer-storyteller Daoirí Farrell will be in the studio.
They will all be joined by dancers Ruth Charles of Riverdance and Jordo and the Legs.
Former Dubliner Gerry O’Connor will be playing tribute to Dubliner Barney McKenna.
There will be performances from multi-instrumentalist Josephine Marsh and Nigerian Segun Arkano, frontman of The Yankari Afrobeat Collective.
A performance of The Voyage will also take place, in honour of Johnny Duhan who passed away last year.
Dublin-born comedian David Nihill will also contribute to the night of music and entertainment.
Political podcasters Ivan Yates and Matt Cooper will discuss their predictions for the year ahead, delving into global and Irish politics.
