Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke star in the new gay western short film Strange Way of Life
The trailer for Strange Way of Life, starring Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke, has dropped before its debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May
Mandalorian and The Last of Us actor Pedro Pascal and Moon Knight actor Ethan Hawke unite onscreen in the new gay western short film Strange Way of Life.
News of the project dropped with the trailer yesterday, on Wednesday, April 26th. Directed by Pedro Almodóvar the short film will be released by Sony Pictures Classics and debut at this year's Cannes Film Festival in May.
The story follows two former lovers, meeting again 25 years after working together as hired gunmen. Jake, played by Hawke, is now the Sheriff and Pascal's character Silva, a rancher, searches him out under the pretence of reuniting and, as the official synopsis puts it, "they do indeed celebrate their meeting," although the murder of a young woman complicates matters.
"You never loved me, you never loved anyone in your life," Silva dramatically spits in the trailer.
Pulling his gun on the other man, Sheriff Jake returns the sentiment with a soft, "Don't say that."
A young Silva will be played by José Condessa and a young Jake will be played by Jason Fernández.
The film will be released in theatres later in the year after its Cannes debut.
