Peaky Blinders "strongly disapprove" of clips used to support Republican Ron De Santis
Florida governor Ron De Santis is one of the favourites to become the Republican candidate for next year’s US presidential election.
The creators of hit BBC show Peaky Blinders have said they "strongly disapprove" of clips from the show being used by supporters of Republican Presidential candidate Ron De Santis.
A statement released on behalf of the show’s creator Steven Knight, leading actor Cillian Murphy as well as the show’s production companies expressed that the footage was obtained "without permission or official license".
"On behalf of the partners of Peaky Blinders… we do not support nor endorse the video’s narrative and strongly disapprove of the use of the content in this manner," said the statement posted to the Peaky Blinders Twitter account.

The video in question was posted by a Twitter account named DeSantis War Room, ran by DeSantis’ team. It appears to criticise rival Republican Donald Trump’s stance on LGBTQ+ issues.
The minute long clip also contains snippets from American Psycho, Troy, The Wolf of Wall Street as well as Tommy Shelby from Peaky Blinders, set to intense music.
