Nicola Coughlan joins the cast of Only Murders in the Building

Nicola Coughlan has joined the cast of Only Murders in the Building for its sixth season.

The Galway actress is among several new additions to the mystery comedy-drama. David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker, Jim Broadbent, Richard Ayoade, Adrian Lukis and Kathryn Hunter are also set to appear.

The series is currently in production in the UK, marking the first time filming has taken place outside the United States.

Only Murders in the Building follows a trio of amateur sleuths, played by Steve Martin, Selena Gomez and Martin Short, who host a true-crime podcast while investigating murders connected to their New York apartment building.

The show was created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman and has received widespread critical acclaim, earning multiple Primetime Emmy Award and Golden Globe nominations.

Coughlan is best known for her roles as Clare Devlin in Derry Girls and Penelope Featherington in Bridgerton, with the show's third season centring on her character's romance.

She has also recently been the host of Saturday Night Live UK. Coughlan was the fifth host of the British version of the long-running sketch comedy series since its launch in March. The original US edition of Saturday Night Live has been on air for more than 50 years.
