Niamh Algar to star in new thriller from Luther creator Neil Cross
The Mary & George star has been cast opposite Tom Hollander for Neil Cross’ new thriller series Iris.
Mullingar native Niamh Algar is set to star in a new thriller series from Luther writer-creator Neil Cross, entitled Iris. Directed by Terry McDonough (Breaking Bad, Better call Saul), the upcoming Sky Studios/Fremantle co-production will feature Algar opposite The White Lotus’ Tom Hollander.
"Iris is a sun-drenched chase thriller about a rootless and enigmatic genius, Iris Nixon (Algar), who steals a code from charming philanthropist Cameron McIntyre (Hollander) and goes on the run,” Sky Studios said in a recent press release. "Armed only with her lethal intelligence and chameleonic charm, the clock is ticking for her to work out what the code could unleash before she is found."
Set to begin filming in Sardinia later this month, the eight-part series will feature a stellar cast of Sacha Dhawan, Meréana Tomlinson, Maya Sansa, Peter Sullivan, and Debi Mazar.
"All I wanted to do was to make a show I wanted to watch,” explained show-runner, writer and creator Cross. "Iris is an unapologetically exciting, witty, chase-driven adventure show and features a lead character the like of which I don't think we've ever met before on TV.
"With Niamh Algar and Tom Hollander bringing these complex characters to life, coupled with Terry McDonough's direction, I couldn't be more excited to share this world and these characters."
